“Our smallest and lightest starter”
The Mini starter is our latest starter range. First released in August 2002, it’s our smallest and lightest starter weighing a modest 12kg.
The Mini is suitable for Diesel engines from 0.5 Litre to 2.5 Litre and is available as a clockwise and anti-clockwise model.
Startwell is proud to say the Mini is the first of its kind in the world. For a small capacity engine a non-electrical backup starter is now available and thus bringing with that all the benefits of mechanical starters. The Mini is a popular starter and used for life boat engines, portable fuel and water pumps in remote locations, to name a few. Applications include Deutz, Farymann, Hatz, Lister, Lombardini, Kubota, Perkins and Ruggerini.
CLOCKWISE & ANTI-CLOCKWISE
Few years after Startwell began producing mechanical starters it was apparent there was a demand for Anti-Clock rotation starters. This was particularly the case where the engine did not have a second pocket for a backup starter or there was insufficient space on the engine to mount a second starter.
Engine Companies were developing flywheel housings with an extra pocket for a backup starter, especially with lifeboat engines, giving Startwell the opportunity to develop Anti-Clock mechanical starters.
The Anti-Clock starters are simple to install, cost effective and offer a device which does not require external energy, such as electric, hydraulic or pneumatic.
The Anti-Clock starter range was extended to the Mini starter range in 2002.
