“An efficient and economical starter”
The Midi starter was released in June 1993, Startwell’s original starter. The Midi is suitable for Diesel engines from 1.1 Litre to 6.6 Litre and is available as a clockwise and anti-clockwise model.
Startwell is proud to say the Midi is the first mechanical starter to have a two piece Mounting Bracket which means this starter is easy to convert to another model just by replacing part of the mounting bracket (mounting flange), making the Midi an efficient and economical starter. In addition, the use of radial securing screws ensures the starter is more compact and installation onto an engine is easier in comparison to other mechanical starters of a similar type in the market.
The Midi is a popular starter and used in many applications including Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit, Man, Perkins, Scania and Volvo.
Clockwise and Anti-Clockwise
A few years after Startwell began producing mechanical starters it was apparent there was a demand for Anti-Clock rotation starters. This was particularly the case where the engine did not have a second pocket for a backup starter or there was insufficient space on the engine to mount a second starter.
Engine Companies were developing flywheel housings with an extra pocket for a backup starter, especially with lifeboat engines, giving Startwell the opportunity to develop Anti-Clock mechanical starters.
The Anti-Clock starters are simple to install, cost effective and offer a device which does not require external energy, such as electric, hydraulic or pneumatic.
