ATEX Certification and Hazardous Area Compliance

ATEX certification is a European regulatory framework designed to ensure equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres meets strict safety requirements. Industries such as mining, oil and gas, chemical processing, and bulk material handling often operate in environments where flammable gases, vapours, or dust may be present.

ATEX zones classify hazardous areas according to the likelihood of an explosive atmosphere being present. Zone 0 and Zone 20 represent the highest risk environments, where explosive gases or combustible dusts are present continuously or for long periods. Zone 1 and Zone 21 areas are locations where hazardous atmospheres may occur during normal operation, while Zone 2 and Zone 22 represent lower-risk areas where explosive conditions are only expected infrequently.
